On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, Abdulrahman Kanoo International School (ARKIS) acknowledges the services of our teachers and their contributions to education. The occasion pays tribute to the “teacher being at the heart of education recovery”, as per the United Nations (UNESCO) 2021 theme for the 5th of October. It addresses their diligence and determination being crucial factors during the Covid-19 pandemic.
UNESCO inaugurated World Teachers’ Day in 1994 to focus attention on the contributions and achievements of teachers and to highlight teachers’ concerns and priorities regarding education. On this occasion we honour all our teachers who are molding future generations, in line with ARKIS core values. On the day, we would like to highlight one such teacher, Mrs. Afaf Salmeen: Head of Pre School. She has dedicated her life to the school for the past 24 years, and was part of the late Founders dream from inception. She engages not only with the students but their parents, every day when school opens and closes. She is a great mentor to her staff and with her passion for education, she is a role model for all.
“Since 1997, I am really proud to be one of the ARKIS Team, where I found a strong base to start my journey of enlightening my students. As a Head of Preschool, the school management team gave me the opportunity to give all my experience to all preschool teachers and students. Thanks to everyone who supported me to be a teacher till this day at ARKIS.” Mrs. Afaf Samleen
As a token of appreciation and in honour of the day, ARKIS management gave all staff a small token of appreciation. “On the occasion of World Teacher’s Day, we applaud all staff who continue to strive for excellence- especially during this unprecedented 18-month period” School Principal Ms. Kate Moskwa.
