Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School proudly announces its recognition at the Bahrain Education Awards 2024 for the innovative initiative, ARKIS Educational Garden. This esteemed accolade, presented during a prestigious ceremony on November 12 at The Art Hotel and Resort in Amwaj, highlights the school’s commitment to creating enriching educational experiences and equipping students for future success.
The ARKIS Educational Garden provides preschoolers with a unique opportunity to connect with nature, fostering responsibility, curiosity, and essential life skills through hands-on gardening activities. This dynamic learning space allows children to observe plant life cycles, explore vibrant flowers and fresh produce, and participate in planting and harvesting, instilling a love for nature while enhancing patience, teamwork, and cognitive development. Serving as both an outdoor classroom and a serene space for imaginative play, the garden supports experiential learning about plants, insects, and the environment, while promoting social, emotional, and creative growth. This initiative reflects ARKIS’s commitment to holistic education through innovative practices.
“The Gulf Insider Award for Innovation in Education for ARKIS Educational Garden is a celebration of our dedication to nurturing both academic growth and environmental stewardship. Our Preschool Garden is more than just a space for exploration; it’s a dynamic, hands-on learning environment where children have the opportunity to grow their own vegetables, engage with nature, and discover the importance of sustainable practices. Through activities like composting, our students learn how their everyday actions can help protect and restore the planet. As they nurture plants and witness the cycle of growth, they develop a deeper connection to the environment. Beyond the garden, our hope is that this experience will inspire our students to become a generation of Bahrainis who will continue to care for and transform our island. We envision a future where they help bring Bahrain back to its roots, turning it once again into the ‘Island of One Million Palm Trees,’ a symbol of sustainability, resilience, and community.” remarked Ms. Afaf Salmeen, Head of Preschool and Ms. Kornilia Mytili, Assistant Head of Preschool
